Background Information

Since the 1st of June 2013, Widnes Street Pastors have sent out a team of at least 4 Street Pastors each Saturday evening between 11.00pm and 4.00am.  Their aim is to care for vulnerable people where they are, on the streets, late at night.  They offer help if needed or just listen to them if they want to talk.  They do not preach.

Groups of people they deal with

People visiting pubs and clubs

People wandering the streets that may be homeless

People wandering the streets that are alcoholics and or have a drug addiction

People who are troubled and want to talk to someone

Since June 2013, they have made contact with over 7000 members of the public and directly helped over 450 of them in the following direct or in-direct ways:

 

Requirements to become a Widnes Street Pastor

  • Must be 18 or over
  • A Christian who has attended a Christian Church for at least 12 months
  • Be willing to commit to carrying out a Saturday evening patrol (11.00pm to 4.00am) at least once a month
  • To be sponsored for at least £50 (uniform hire) from the church they attend
  • Obtain a reference from their Priest, Minister or Pastor
  • Be willing to undergo a DBS check.
